임정서는 작가 개인의 삶에서 마주하는 죽음으로 인한 상실에 관한 작업을 이어오고 있다. 작가는 예술을 통해 돌이킬 수 없는 이별 앞에 보다 나은 방식으로 삶의 시간을 보내는 방법과 완만하게 상실을 마주하는 마음가짐을 탐구한다.
《가을에서 여름 가는 길》 전시를 통해 작가는 삶에서 마주한 생명을 보내고 또 다른 인연을 시작하며 가지게 된 질문을 나눈다. Zine(간행물) 형식의 작품<죽은 개와의 대화>에는 세상을 떠난 작가의 반려견 ‘개죠니’와 함께 한 시간에 그린 그림과 촬영 사진 그리고 이 기억을 바탕으로 창작한 희곡이 수록되어 있다. 싱글채널영상<진달래가 지기 전에 우리 만나서 다행이다>에서 작가는 개죠니와 나눈 마지막 인사를 수년이 지나 그 의미를 다시 살펴 본다. 영상은 한국에서 진돗개 진달래를 만나 서로 다른 언어로 소통하며 관계를 맺는 과정을 담고 있다.🐕

작가 소개
임정서는 영화, 퍼포먼스, 기획 기반 프로젝트 등 다양한 형태로 시간 예술을 탐구하며 누군가의 삶에서 ‘영화적인 순간’을 발생시키는 것을 실험한다. 《소나무 레지던시, 2021》, 《UR field lab; 치앙마이 19’》에 참여했고, 단체전 《지구인을 위한 질병관리본부》, 참여형 식사 퍼포먼스 시리즈 《병과 식탁》, (인디아트홀공, 2020)을 기획했다. 확장 영화 및 퍼포먼스 탐구 작업은 《한강의 정서》 (유방랜드 시즌 2; 가슴친구, 2020), 《당신의 시간에 흐르는 나의 영화》 (늬에게, 2019), 《청정여행 죄책감 일기》 (세종문화회관 미술관, 2019), 《유방랜드, 유방 속으로》 (인디아트홀공, 2018), 《절대 영화 재생기》 (우정국, 2016) 등이 있다. 2020년 서울 국제 대안 영상 페스티벌에서 《조금 천천히 가주면 안 될까?, 2019》, 《꺼지지 않는 빛, 2019》, 《죽음의 싹, 2019》을 상영했다.
Autumn to Summer

Jungsuh Sue Lim examines the theme of loss and mortality, drawing from her personal experiences. Through her art practice, Sue explores how individuals can make the most of their lives in the face of irreversible farewells and confront the emotions that accompany loss.
In the exhibition "Autumn to Summer," Sue reflects on forming new relationships after the death of a loved one. "Conversation with a Dead Dog" is a Zine-style artwork that combines illustrations and photos featuring the artist's deceased companion, 'Johnny Dog,' along with a short play based on her memories with him. In the single-channel video titled “I’m glad we met before the azalea falls,” Sue looks back at the meaning of the last greeting she exchanged with Johnny Dog after many years. The video also portrays the artist's process of meeting Jindo dog 'Jindalrae' in Korea and forming a relationship by interacting with each other in different languages.

About the artist
Jungsuh Sue Lim explores time-based media art including film, performances, and project-based artworks, experimenting with arousing ‘cinematic moments’ in one’s life. Sue participated in 《Sonahmoo residency, 2021》 and 《UR field lab; Chiang Mai 19’》. She also organized a group exhibition 《Earthian Center for DCP》 and 《Disease on Table》 (Indiearthallgong, 2020), a participatory dining performance series. Sue has been making expanded cinema and performance works including 《Sentiments of the Han River》 (Bosom Land Season 2; Bosom Friends, 2020), 《My Film Flows In Your Time》 (Nuiege, 2019), 《Eco Trip Guilty Diary》 (Sejong Museum of Art, 2019), 《Bosom Land, Into The Breasts》 (Indiearthallgong, 2018), and 《Absolute Film Player》 (Ujeongguk, 2016). 《Will you Slow down a Bit?, 2019》, 《The Light Never Goes Off, 2019》, and 《Seed of Death, 2019》 were screened at 2020 Seoul NewMedia Festival.
